Local meteorologist presents snowfall predictions for the 2011-12 winter season

Channel 12 meteorologist, Jeremy Nelson, joins Wayne Larrivee and Mike Ossian at Winter Services' Winter Forecast Luncheon

MILWAUKEE (October 4, 2011) – On Tuesday, September 27, WISN WeatherWatch 12 Meteorologist, Jeremy Nelson; Ossian Inc. marketing and education director, Mike Ossian; and Packers Radio Network announcer, Wayne Larrivee, spoke to local property managers during the Winter Services' Winter Forecast Luncheon at Milwaukee's Italian Community Center.

The luncheon began with a discussion about Lezak's Recurring Cycle (LRC), a meteorological theory used to accurately predict long-term weather forecasts through the use of patterns and cycles. Nelson explained that, according to the LRC theory, winter weather patterns for the United States develop during the month of October and then become quite predictable from November through the end of spring and eventually dissipate during the mid-summer months. The 2011-12 pattern is forming, now, and Nelson should be able to pinpoint large winter storms for the remainder of the season by the middle of November.

After Nelson's speech, Ossian discussed the technologies behind ice-melting solutions. Ossian explained that snow removal companies that use proper ice-melting techniques are able to keep parking lots cleaner, longer. He went on to discuss how parking lots that are pretreated with proper ice-melting solutions can be scraped cleaner after large snowstorms, eliminating most of the icy residue that often leads to slips and other accidents.

Larrivee wrapped up the luncheon by speaking about the Green Bay Packers' latest Super Bowl appearance, and how North Texas was unprepared for the ice storm that ravaged the city in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.

The event was hosted by Winter Services Inc., a statewide snow removal company that focuses on snow and ice removal, year round. Fritz Frazier, owner of Winter Services, says the event was a rousing success, "I think Jeremy, Mike and Wayne did an excellent job and I really appreciate all of those who were able to make it to our great event." He added, "We look forward to a great winter season, and we hope even more business owners will join us at our luncheon, next fall."
